D. Course Description: This course is designed for educators who already possess basic technology skills and desire to learn how to create web pages and/or web based instructional materials. Participants will learn how to identify HTML tags, evaluate web pages, create parent and child pages, use navigation bars, and insert hyperlinks.

E. Prerequisites: None

Microsoft FrontPage2003, 2005, Course Technology

HTML For the World Wide Web, Fourth Edition, 2000, Peachpit Press

 H. Computer Equipment Needed:

            Minimum:        Windows XP Operating System

                                    Microsoft Office 2000

                                    Internet Connection

                                    28.8 Modem with 32 MB memory

            Web Browser: Netscape 4.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher

            Recommended: Pentium processor with 56.6 modem and 128 MB memory

 I. Course Objectives:

·    To teach the fundamentals and skills necessary to create basic web pages

·    To provide a knowledge base for HTML upon which students can build

·    To expose students to real-world examples and procedures that will prepare them to be skilled web page developers

·    To encourage independent creativity

·    To enhance knowledge for computers and computer literacy

·    To expose students to the Internet and the World Wide Web

 J. Course Schedule:

            This course will meet for five 3-hour sessions for a total of 15 contact hours. Schedule of class meetings will begin on approximately March 15, and will continue each week as weather and participants’ schedules allow. The course will conclude when participants have completed 15 contact hours, however, their web pages will be on-going and it is suggested that participants update their web pages regularly.

Adding themes, navigation bars, and buttons

Inserting hyperlinks

Inserting pictures, sounds, and backgrounds

Editing web pages

Session 5

Publishing web pages to a host server

Editing web pages after publishing

 K. Grading: This course is Pass/Fail based upon attendance and participation. All students are required to complete a personal web page.
